Village of Jerome Water Service Information
To begin water service in Jerome, a $75.00 security deposit is required. Water bills are typically mailed on the 5th of each month and are due 21 days later. Please note that mailing and due dates may occasionally vary.
Payment Options

- In Person or By Mail: You may also pay at the Village Office or send payments by mail.
If a water bill for two months’ usage is not paid by the due date, water service will be discontinued. A $50.00 reconnection fee will apply to restore service.
- NSF Check Policy: A $25.00 fee is charged for bounced (NSF) checks. If we receive two NSF checks within one year, you will be required to pay your bill by cash.

Water Rates
- Rate: Residents and businesses pay $0.01038 per gallon.
- Monthly Meter Charge:
- Residents: $7.00 (flat rate).
- Businesses (based on meter size):
- $12.00 (5/8” Meter)
- $18.06 (3/4” Meter)
- $37.02 (1” Meter)
- $63.97 (1 ½” Meter)
- $96.28 (2” Meter)
Sewer Rates
- Rate: Residents and businesses pay $0.00829 per gallon.
- Monthly Sewer Charge:
- Residents and businesses: $14.96 (flat rate).
The sewer rates are determined by the Sangamon County Water Reclamation District and are collected by Jerome on their behalf.
Sanitary Sewer Emergencies
In the event of a residential or commercial sanitary sewer emergency, affected property owners should contact the following:
1. A licensed plumber of their choice
To inspect or service the line from the structure to the sewer main.
2. Sangamon County Water Reclamation District — 217-528-0491
Request a courtesy flush on the main line serving your property.
(This does not include the private service line from the structure to the main.)
Important:
The Village of Jerome does not own or maintain any sanitary sewer lines.
If repairs require work within the street, your contractor must obtain a Street Opening Permit through the Public Works Department (Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM, excluding holidays).
Understanding Your Water Bill
Your water bill will include two dates:
- Due Date: The date by which payment must be received.
- Penalty Date: If payment is made on or after this date, a penalty will be applied.
