Village of Jerome Department of Public Safety
The Village’s Department of Public Safety primarily consists of the Jerome Police Department, located at 1610 Reed Avenue.
The Police Department has four full-time officers and operates under the guidance of the Public Safety Trustee. The department provides coverage for the entire village and is accessible for both emergency and non-emergency situations through the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Radio Communications Center.

Additional Services
If you’re planning to be away for a day or longer, the Police Department offers home checks and extra patrols. To take advantage of this service:
- Fill out a request form at the Village Office to register your home on the house checklist.
- Police officers will check your home several times a day to ensure it is safe and secure while you’re away.
Is there a neighborhood watch program?
Parking at 9 Reed Ct continues to be a problem. They need to be given village ordinance on parking in the Cul de sac. and not parking or driving thru the front yard. It’s like a used car lot there.
I retired 12/31/17 from Chesterfield Mo PD after 28+ years and a total of 36 as a LEO. I have started to collect PD and FD patches and would like to obtain a current and older version of your department’s patch to make a display. Thanks stay safe out there. Any help with special units patches like SWAT, Explorers and K-9. Chesterfield has 8 SROs with 4 elementary schools, 2 middle, and 3 high schools. A shirt take off is great as I know it was worn with Pride and Honor in the service to the community. I started my career as a Reserve Officer with Webster Groves Mo PD in 1981.
